What's Your Divine Right Livelihood?

There is a concept I've been toying around with for the past year or so. I call it 'Divine Right Livelihood'. It's my firm belief that each one of us has a certain and specific problem that we were put here on Earth by God to solve. And its in the solving of this chosen problem that we find our ultimate fulfillment as contributors to the good of this planet.

I also believe that we are happiest when we are in sync with our divine right livelihood; unhappiest when we are not.

Youth are restless because they don't know their divine right livelihood.

Gangs flourish because people don't know their divine right livelihood.

When you are living in your 'sweet spot', doing the thing you are best equipped by nature to do, and doing it for the good of someone else, I believe you are at the pinnacle of happiness at that moment. Time becomes irrelevant to you; the world becomes a blur in your mind.

Focusing on living out your divine right livelihood brings with it the reward of your labors. And should we even call it a labor? Who actually 'labors' doing something they love to do? Who 'labors' at doing the thing which they would do anyway as a favorite hobby or pastime?

The richest people on earth today got that way by doing what they love to do. In other words, they found their 'sweet spot'...their Divine Right Livelihood. And they found a way to deliver this to those most in need or want of it. They found the problem they were placed here to solve, and using the God-given skills and talents inside themselves, they got busy solving it.

I believe when one has found his Divine Right Livelihood, he'll know it. The sheer excitement and exuberance that comes from doing it carries him to a place of tireless working in his special field. He does his special thing so easily that he can just as easily take it for granted if he's not careful. Its usually in line with his natural gifting and talents.

When one is engaged in his divine right livelihood, there is no fatigue. fatigue comes from doing something that exhausts you; something that drains you of energy. But alas! Doing what God placed you on earth to do actually puts you in partnership with God. You are in essence allowing God to work through you to solve a pressing problem in the world. So your strength isn't needed for such a task. Instead, you become infused with the very power of God.

That's where the extra energy comes from. You become like Samson in the Bible, who under the anointing of God could carry off the gates of a city by placing them on his shoulders as he marched tirelessly uphill.

Your divine right livelihood is your area of specialty. It's your own special way of changing the world for the better. Watching somebody operate in their area of specialty is a sight to see. Its amazing. They seem to do the impossible so easily. While we stand in awe of them, they look at us with shrugged shoulders as if to say:

'What's the big deal?'

I implore you today, to begin to prayerfully examine yourself for your special divine right livelihood. There's a specific problem you were put on earth to solve...something that presently is broken, but you are exceptionally skilled to fix. Find out what it is, and begin to do it with all your might.

That is where you wealth has been hiding. That's where your riches will come from. Your wealth and abundance gets released as you give of yourself to help others. So get busy giving today.

  1. Ayo, that's some good info, MackNificent, seriously good, my brutha. I've been telling myself that for years, of course not as eloquently. That innate longing has always been with me, but that "divine right livelihood" has always seem to elude me. I can't say i ever recall feeling like "THIS IS IT" "THIS IS MY CALLING" and i've dabbled in many things, so clearly my search is far from over. Just hoping i discover it b4 i'm too old you. Thanx for clarifying what seems to be my constant companion, though.
